“The best laid plans……….”, we had great intentions of getting all the information out to you early because so much is going to change. Our brains were faster than our administrative skills. Here is the amended first round of information for the 2008 Kokopelli Member-Guest Tournament.
You are eligible to play in the Kokopelli if you have one of the three following memberships: Regular, Non-Resident Regular, or Golfing Social. You will be able to play as a member but not as a guest. KOKOPELLI TEAM ENTRY FEE IS $475.
The first round of the match play will be Thursday afternoon. This will allow for a practice round on Wednesday if you so desire.
The format for this year's Kokopelli Tournament will be a member-guest best ball match play. Each flight will consist of 6 teams. Each team will play a 9-hole match play with each team in their flight. There will be a total of 10 points for each 9-hole match. 1 point is awarded to the winner of the hole. If a hole is tied, each team gets ½ point. The winner of the match will receive 1 extra point. In the event of a tie at 4 ½, each team will receive ½ point for a total of 5 points each. The winner of each flight is the team with the most points for all five matches played. Each 9-hole match will be played off the low handicap.
Each flight will be grouped into 6 teams. The lowest handicap teams will be one flight, the next lowest 6 handicaps, and then the next 6 and so on.
This year's tournament will be limited to the first 72 teams that enter the tournament. If you played in the 2007 tournament, you have until July 1st to pay a $200 deposit to secure your spot. After July 1st New member/guest applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis and must include a $200 deposit. The remainder of the $475 is due by October 1st. Teams will be added to the field in increments of 6 so that the round robin match play concept will be kept in tact until 72 teams are reached.

Prizes will be awarded in each flight, first $150 per team, Second $100 per team, and third $50 per team. All ties will split the prize money. This represents 50% of the field.
New this year will be a Ladies Tournament that will be played Thursday morning. The Women’s Golf Association will send more information.

We would like to welcome
everyone to this year’s tournament. There
have been several changes to last year’s event. We have changed the format to
match play,
have lengthened the tournament to 3 days, and in conjunction with the Women’s
Association, created an 18-hole event for the Ladies as part of the
festivities.
We have included a list of the major activities that will take place during the
three day event. Relax, sit back, and enjoy the golf, camaraderie,
and fun for the 3 days of the 2008 Kokopelli.
